This is a super cute toddler cardigan, sized approximately 12-18m, but of course all babies are different sizes so they will fit it at some stage!
The gauge is 10cm wide is 20 stitches. Height doesn’t really matter as I have written the pattern by measurement rather than pattern repeats.
I used 2 balls of Moda Vera Starlight which was lovely to knit with and sits beautifully. It claims to be 8ply but it looks like sock weight, possibly ever so slightly thicker. I used merino sock yarn as a comparison knit, and the width gauge was the same, but it was slightly shorter in height. Just follow the measurements, or knit to the length you want.
You will use 4mm circular needles simply for the length, as you will knit the sides and back together in one piece so there are no seams. Then you split for the sleeves, and eventually will knit the sleeves from the shoulder down, picking up stitches until you work the sleeve in the round.
This is an easy-intermediate project. It’s a 4 pattern repeat, with not difficult stitches - it just looks like you’ve done something super fancy!
Adult pattern coming soon.
